What the work involves

Drywall installation covers the framing with new board. Finishing treats the joints, fasteners and corners, then smooths the surface for the agreed finish. A renovation with exposed framing needs both stages; a room with board already hung may need finishing only.

Is framing exposed, or is the board already hung?
How many rooms need work? Include approximate wall or ceiling dimensions.
Do you need hanging and finishing, or finishing only?
Will the finished surface be smooth or textured? Who will prime and paint?

Agree on where the job ends

Ask whether the estimate includes materials, surface protection, cleanup, priming and painting. A smooth finish under strong side lighting can need different preparation than a textured wall. Agree on the finish before the work starts.
